Teen Fall Fashions

With summer ending and school beginning, the most important thing on a typical teenage mind is what will be worn this fall. For the teenager, fashion is about being cool, being "in," being creative, and being who you are. Fashion identifies you. And, of course, every teen wants to fit in. So, what is new for the fall of 2010? Well, quite a lot.

Let's start off with book bags. Book bags are considered part of one's outfit; it has to be used everyday, so it must look good and take a good beating. The styles are changing; there's so much more to choose from. The normal backpack style is still popular, and with so many different designs and colors to choose from. Plaids are now in. Fashion slings are also in for guys and girls. Other styles include messenger bags, sling bags, minis and laptop book bags.

Converse low cut sneakers will be one of the popular footwear teens will be wearing. A year ago it was the Converse high top. Girls will be seen wearing heeled ankle boots, mostly in black. These boots are similar to a Victorian boot. While platforms are still in style, there will be also be plenty of boots with low heels and flats. Open-toe booties and boots will make a repeat appearance, as well as the still popular clogs and mules. Embellished flats will look great with any outfit. Keds, Skechers, and Steve Madden will probably be the most popular brands worn. Sneakers are what guys mostly wear, especially from the likes of Nike, Puma, Adidas, and Vans. If they are not wearing their sneakers, they may be wearing styles from Doc Martens, Clarks, and Keen.

Much of the teen clothing for 2010 has been inspired from the popular show, Glee. And, since Glee consists of mostly 80's music, so is the fashion. Leggings are going to be very popular, with many colors and styles to choose from. Printed leggings as well as latex are in. They look great with boots and heels. Jeggings, leggings and jeans mixed together will probably be one of the biggest fashion trends of the year. Shorts worn over tights will be a great look. Over-sized shirts will be worn with the leggings. Plaid button down shirts worn by itself or over another top is still the style. Cardigans that are chunky worn over thin tops with skinny jeans or pants is the new look. Denim skirts have been popular for years and that hasn't changed. There will be plenty of denim mini skirts. Denim jackets are making a comeback this year. Of course, the traditional pretty and preppy, black and neon 80's punk, dark jewel tones and Victorian gothic and boho hippie chic have not gone away.

Some fashion experts say that these three articles of clothing are on the must-have trend list: a print top (sleeveless or short sleeved), a detailed vest (sequined, ruffly, lacey) and something plaid (skirt, ruffled shirt, or zipper camisole).

Army wear has been around for awhile, but now designers are dressing it up. Sequined mesh tank, under a military green explorer blouse, button cuff shorts, and cuffed heels, along with the right accessories, can be a dressed up or casual look. High socks and boots and chunky ankle socks will be seen with shorts or skirts.

Another prediction for this fall's fashion is the androgynous look. This style consists of fitted blazers, collared shirts, cropped trousers, fedoras, and high-heeled oxfords. It is quite a polished look when done right.

Fashion accessories, always an important part of any girl's wardrobe, will consist of jewelry, watches, and scarves. Chandelier earrings, feather earrings, earrings with charms, and flower fabric earrings will be popular. Chunky bracelets or girlie bracelets will all have their place in this year's fall fashion. You will see Victorian charm bracelets, punk chains with flowers, leather bracelets, and Japanese schoolgirl charms on many a girl's arm. Watches to "watch" for are the eighties neon Swatches, Victorian pocket watches and chunky men's styles. Scarves can be worn year round, depending on the colors and prints. Goth is still stylish. Boys like caps with their favorite team logos or funky colors. They are also wearing more accessories now. Chains, bracelets, earrings and belts are going to be huge this year.

Old or new, the 2010 fall fashions fit every teen's individual style.
